Mother Moses
Mother Moses
Mother Moses is a folk/rock band that was formed in 2013 by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jon Cox. Jon grew up near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and in 2012 he moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, where he formed the band with Ellen Shultz (vocals, guitar), Dylan Vadakin (drums), and Steve Bunce (bass, vocals). After recording their debut album, Slow the Fire, Jon relocated to Philadelphia, PA where he has since found a place in the Philly music scene. The first half of their second album, Traveling Glass, was released in 2017 and the full length album was released in February, 2019. Mostly, the music is based in folk tradition, but has slowly shifted in its sound in recent years. Jon continues to draw from a variety of influences leaving the music multifaceted in the genres it embodies. Mother Moses now performs as a trio with Jon on guitar and vocals, Collin Dennen on upright bass, and Genevieve DeGroot on vocals. They are currently working on an EP entitled Bowling Shoes, which is slated for release on the arbitrary day of May 2nd, 2019.
Sadurn
Sadurn
Sadurn is the moniker of West Philadelphia-based bedroom folk duo Genevieve DeGroot and Jon Cox. Genevieve began the band as a solo project in 2017 and released an album of home-recorded songs entitled “Friends with your Friends”, before asking their best friend Jon to add some extra nylon strings to the sauce. The two have been a combo deal ever since and can be heard playing together on the upcoming “Gleam” EP, which is set to release on March 8th through Dead Definition Records."
