The Low Road
The Low Road
The Low Road, an acoustic pop quintet, emerged from the Philadelphia local scene in 1990.
After initially playing coffeeshops and small cafes around town, the band became an early WXPN local favorite and popular club act at Khyber Pass, the North Star, J.C. Dobb's and other venues of the era.

At the same time, The Low Road also held down a residency at NYC's famed Cafe Sin'e, where the band played on the same nights as luminaries such as Jeff Buckley, Sinead O'Connor, Marianne Faithful, P.J. Harvey and more.

The Low Road would go on to sign a recording contract with Caroline Records and released
The Devil's Pocket (1994) and Fidelity (1996) on Caroline's Passenger imprint. The Low Road was one of the first unsigned acts to appear on NPR's Mountain Stage and toured the U.S. with Los Lobos, Barenaked Ladies, (Caroline labelmates) Ben Folds Five, Black 47 and many more acts before calling it quits in 1997.

The Low Road (guitarist Mike Brenner, violinist Rosie McNamara-Jones, bassist Alan Stevens Hewitt, drummer Mark Schreiber and harmonica player Palmer Yale) reunited several times for shows since breaking up. The individual band members have remained musically active in both Philadelphia and New York City.
