Tones of Home presented by BuildaBridge
BuildaBridge International presents Tones of Home, a concert and art-making series for the people of Philadelphia. Tones of Home brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds to amplify the sounds of an united culture against the cacophonous sounds of hate, racism and bigotry. In addition to the concert, BuildaBridge invites concert goers to participate in community arts programming (music, movement, fine arts, etc) prior to the show. Collaborative art-making helps make better community. Join us. All ages welcome!
Blair Bodine
Winner of the American Songwriter Magazine Grand Prize for lyric writing, Blair Bodine has been described as "a songbird with heart." With powerful vocals and compelling arrangements, Blair’s 2019 release "Phoenix" features songs that are rich in traditions of storytelling and songcraft. The album is co-produced by four-time Grammy award winner Glenn Barrett. In addition to songwriting and performing, Blair is committed to music education. “These days, schools are cutting their music programs at an alarming rate. We need to make sure that we don’t lose the next generation of songwriters.” Blair currently works for LiveConnections, the music education non-profit in residence at World Cafe Live. At LiveConnections, Blair serves as the director of development and teaching artist for "Immigrant Songs," songwriting and storytelling program serving refugee and immigrant teens in Northeast Philadelphia.
Chana Rothman
Chana Rothman is a Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter, musical community organizer, and educator. From local – Philadelphia’s World Cafe Live and Tin Angel – to global – workshops and concerts throughout Europe, Israel, and South Africa, Rothman’s music is a unique blend of folk, world beat and hip-hop, aiming to break down barriers towards consciousness and change.
The Interfaith Music Project
The Interfaith Music Project was created by Harold Messinger and James Pollard in 2017 as a response to the ongoing divisiveness and anger overwhelming our country. Bringing together a diverse group of musicians representing many faith traditions, the IMP seeks to bring people together through the power of song, prayer, and fellowship and sees music as a powerful force for healing, understanding and bridge building. The IMP is by design and in every sense, a work in progress. We are constantly looking for new partners, new venues and new music to share.
