Blushed
Philadelphia-based band Blushed started out as a grungey, garage rock trio with dreams of honing in on a dreamier, surf rock sound. After their recent addition of a lead guitarist in January of 2018, they were able to achieve the sound that they were hoping for and recorded a few songs with Kyle Pulley at the Headroom Studios in Kensington for a split EP with Secret Nudist Friends. With their first release on the way and a tour under their belt, Blushed is excited for what’s to come in their future as a band.
Grandchildren
Grandchildren
Since their first release, Everlasting (2010), Grandchildren have evolved from pioneers of Philadelphia’s burgeoning DIY scene into a musical powerhouse known for their unique cinematic blend of pop, folk and electronica. A product of a nomadic coming of age across three continents, frontman Aleks Martray settled in Philly to form a family of musicians that brought to life his eclectic sound - Roman Salcic (drums), John Vogel (synth), Russell Brodie (bass), and Adam Katz (guitar). Their following two records took them from the symphonic Golden Age (2013) to the pop-driven ZUNI (2015). After attaining road warrior status through several US tours, sharing the stage with such bands as Man Man, O’Death, and Thievery Corporation, the band went back into the studio to begin work on their fourth album. Their newest single OK I’m Waiting, a psych-folk ode to seizing the moment, offers a glimpse into their forthcoming self-titled album Grandchildren. The track features the soulful harmonies of vocalist Shari Bolar in her debut performance with the band.
Bucolic
Bucolic is the solo project of NJ musician Seth Carpenter. Heavily influenced by nature, his sound blurs the lines between Dream Pop, Shoegaze, and Folktronica creating a genre he calls “Pasture Pop”. Pensive and poetic lyrics, mixed with melancholy yet ethereal soundscapes, make for a unique listening experience that hopes to create a nostalgic and idyllic slideshow in the listener’s mind.
