Klazz Ma Tazz
Klazz Ma Tazz
Motivated by a diverse musical palate and burning passion to connect with people of all creeds through his music, violinist, pianist, composer and educator, Benjamin Sutin is currently residing in New York City. He began his career in Philadelphia, where he studied with legendary jazz violinist, John Blake Jr. Sutin has since performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium, NJPAC, Lincoln Center's Appel Room, Microsoft Theater (Staples Center), and the Nassau Coliseum. Sutin has performed and/or recorded with the likes of Idan Raichel, Brasstracks, Eli Schwebel, Joey Weisenberg, Zhenya Lopatnik, Distinguished Concerts International New York, the National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene, Tran-Siberian Orchestra, Arijit Singh, Larry Harlow, Bobby Sanabria, Pandit Samir Chatterjee, Ronnie Burrage, Benito Gonzalez, George Burton, Don Friedman, Billy Mintz, and Tommy Byrnes.

Sutin graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 2015 with a BM in Jazz Violin Performance and has studied Klezmer and Jewish Music with David Krakauer, Alicia Svigals and Yale Strom. In the summer of 2015 Benjamin had the honor of auditioning for Turtle Island String Quartet but unfortunately didn't get the job. Later that year, Benjamin's Klezmer Jazz project Klazz-Ma-Tazz released their debut album, Tangibility on OneTrickDog* Records to rave reviews, sold out crowds and international radio play. Klazz-Ma-Tazz, once described by New York Music Daily as "Epically Haunting Lynchian Klezmer Jazz, blurs the boundaries of labels and genres. Rooted in the contemporary jazz fusion idiom, their music explores a unique chemistry of worldly musical influences and are dedicated to performing and recording original compositions and uniquely reimagined interpretations of traditional secular Jewish music, catered to the nostalgically progressive audience of the 21st century.

In February, 2018 their arrangement of the Ukrainian folk song, "Svalava Kozatshok" went viral on FB with over 20K views. They are thrilled to announce the release of their second album, Meshugenah. The music is at times gnarly, yet always with the underlying sense of yearning, sorrow and joy which makes this music so rich with emotion. Simply put, Meshugenah resonates with a sense of nostalgic novelty, serving as a musical meditation, exploring the magic of the past while languishing the beautiful mystery of the unknown.
