GR Stone
Philadelphia native and resident GR Stone began playing guitar at 10 years old, and had found the piano by age 13. Though under professional weekly direction, he took an improvisational approach, and began composing music regularly on his own. He cites his main early musical inspirations as Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, and Grateful Dead. He attended the University of Pittsburgh where he studied Jazz Piano Theory/Composition under the direction of Jazz greats Nathan Davis, Frank Cunimondo, Leon Lee Dorsey and Daniel May. He graduated with honors in the summer of 2010. Since moving back to Philadelphia, he has made independent strides in the local musical community. He performs both original and cover music at various music venues throughout the greater Philadelphia and tri-state areas. He also composes and scores professionally, most recently working with local FM radio and a NYC-based web-series. GR draws inspiration for his original music all the way back from the European classical greats that he studied in Pittsburgh, equally citing the three main American musical art forms of Jazz, Folk, and Hip Hop. Stone's original compositions often tell tales of travels, relationships, and lessons in life, woven into chromatic creations inspired by all previously cited artists and genres
Cross Culture
If the Gym Class Heroes had Kanye West & Jazmine Sullivan, if The Roots had Kendrick Lamar and Beyonce, you'd have Cross Culture. With the bold flow of emcee, Saidu Ezike and the powerful voice of Ruby Gorcey-Biblowitz matched with the likes of top-notch musicians such as Scott Sugarman & Enrique Mancia, Cross Culture quickly is taking the NYC scene by storm. High-energy performances matched with the vivid story-telling and lyricism of Saidu has set this band apart from many others. The momentum continues to remain strong for this group of highly-motivated individuals as they released their first single “Leap Frog Loverz” in 2015 to much praise. The sky’s the limit for this group as they look forward to taking both the national and international scene by storm in the near future.
Cactus Karma
Cactus Karma brings a freshness to R&B by infusing grooves from jazz and funk with a neo-soul attitude. The band began at Princeton University in 2014, and immediately made an impact: As a main act at Princeton’s infamous Terrace Club in the spring of 2015, CK worked a crowd of almost three hundred into a dancing frenzy. Since then, CK has played alongside Vulfpeck, The O'My's and Butcher Brown. CK released their first, fresh EP "Marmalade," recorded in Philadelphia and mixed in New York, on December 1st, 2015. They are currently touring "Marmalade" in Princeton, Philly and NYC. Prepare your ears + put on your dancing shoes.
